I came across this old photo from the 90's. The mid to late 90's was an exciting and productive time for us shapers. I was lucky enough to have a great bunch of guys riding for me and the Iron Cross/Murphy team. Good times! We were stacked: Bassy, Tom and Emmo were hard to beat. And they are still out there ripping it up on all kinds of different boards. Bassy is the man behind Sacred Craft and Emerson, with the Swami's Surfing Association, is still the man at Cardiff. Good memories for sure. dm

Was at a garage sale in Point Loma awhile back and this guy had a back yard strewn with all kinds of old boards, watercraft and boating stuff. It was really quite an interesting scene. Off in the corner I spotted this old, brown Iron Cross that Dennis shaped back in the 90's. Looks like it could have been a team riders board, maybe Meyers... maybe 98 model. She was sun damaged, a little hard around the edges, but she still had a pulse.

Found this old magazine in the stacks. Classic shot of Mike Myers in trim at his home reef in La Jolla. Mike has surfed Dennis' boards for a long time and was one of Murphy's top team riders when Iron Cross was blowing up.

This is a shot of Aaron Fosters Red Baron from around 2002. Shaped by Dennis, Aaron has mentioned that this was one of his favorite boards - ever. He's been surfing for over 30 years, so that's saying something. Aaron is a Grand View local of many years and has very talented surfing sons that are completely surf crazy. Photos of Red Baron in action and further inspiration from this board to follow soon.

Relationships come and go. But the memories last a lifetime. The Red Baron was a popular model shaped by Dennis under the Iron Cross label. A progressive style longboard that still had the ability to get your toes on the nose. RIP.
