Chapped Lipz

Nice smackage of one La Jolla lip under the August sun. That's a lot of board poppin out the back of the wave while the fins are just holding in. I like what's going on in this photo. Jean-Paul punching the clock for the afternoon shift.

Got sunscreen?

What?! a surf session this summer when the sun was actually out in San Diego?
So much fun wearing a full suit in summer..........yeah..........
Can we please get some sun and some warmer water?*#*^*!* My trunks and vest are feeling neglected.

Freeze Frame

Like this water shot as it really captures what we see when we are paddling over a set wave and peek to the left to see what the rider is doing. Pretty cool with the little pieces of seaweed/eel grass in the lip too.

Botox Lips

photo: Mike Sangiolo
Some lips are wafer thin. Some lips are soft and mushy. Some lips are small and chapped. But this lip shown in this photo is on roids or just got a huge botox injection in mid July prior to breaking on this local shelf. All I know is that the lips in Leucadia and Del Mar do not come close to looking like these. J.P. - in the right place at the right time. again............... You are the Man!

Summer SD Style

Final Chapter

Part two in a series of only two. Here's how JP's floater ended. I'm not sure if the barnz pony tail got in the way or if he was just it utter shock before blue impact. I will have to check with JP to see if there is an epilogue.

Floatersam and Jetsam

Here's a recent July sequence of Jean Paul in his backyard in La Jolla. Nice bottom turn into a floater/off-the-top. But wait........ who is this barney with the ponytail?!! Check back tomorrow for the final chapter and epilogue.

Put It on Axis.....

is a favorite saying of a friend of ours when he is out in the water and hitting all his bottom turns and setting it on rail. Here's JP with his interpretation of putting it on axis.

Lifestyle of JP

Yes, all those sticks are Murphy's: and please note that the one behind him has been put back together twice by our great friend and ally, Joe Roper. JP in his crib painting in his inimitable style preparing to go on another undercover mission at the reefs. Thanks Aaron, John Slavin, Lance Smith et. al. ; not necessarily in that order. You guys are the best support team on this coast or any other. Dennis out for now.
p.s. I couldn't do any of this without Chris Miller or Ed Lewis of The Leucadia Project.com. Check out the site! And that's an order y'all. Later. dm

Rocas y Pajaros y Juan Pablo

I always liked this shot the best of this particular day - but, I was over ruled by the local, pseudo, photo journalists lurking near the Murph studio. Well now, I say it's time for my favorite to get exposed.

Finally..........

This place only breaks a handful of times a year (if that).
But it finally did on Saturday January 23rd. And staying true to form, J.P. Marengo was on it - with his 9' Speed shape. This guy is on a serious roll.
Thanks for the photos John. Check out his work at johnslavin.com

The Hits Keep Coming

Here's another action shot of the Man, JP Marengo, in his backyard.
Every week, so it seems, there has been a new W/NW swell.
Then the photos come rolling in. They never get old and keep us amped for the next session. We really like the colors and texture of the water, the color of the board and the kelp paddies. Blow it up and see what we mean. Enjoy.

Send Us Some

Here's a shot of team rider J.P. Marengo at the spot Joel Tudor likes to refer to as South Torrey. Here's hoping that the alleged El Nino will bring us some of these nuggets.

The Sacred Craft Expo weekend was a blast and a detailed post will be following shortly.

J.P.

Long time Murphy rider, and La Jolla reef aficionado, J.P. Marengo shown here doing his thing. We will probably see more shots of him when he gets that new custom board and the Souths
finally start hitting.
Watch out for his coffee...... it's dangerous.
